Intact Global Engages Thousands at Portland Pride 2025, Gains Momentum for Historic Lawsuit
With over 190 new supporters signed up, public backing surges for Oregon equal protection lawsuit challenging forced, non-religious genital cutting.
“The warmth, affection, and encouragement we received were overwhelming,” said Eric Clopper, Founder and Executive Director of Intact Global. “Person after person came to our booth to say ‘thank you for being here.’ Many told us they were relieved to see this issue finally being represented and inspired to know someone is taking it all the way to court.”
Key Event Details
Filed earlier this year, Intact Global’s constitutional lawsuit challenges Oregon’s anti-Female Genital Mutilation statute for denying equal protection to boys and intersex children, leaving them vulnerable to non-consensual, medically unnecessary genital cutting.
Portland Pride 2025 became a powerful rallying point for this cause. Throughout the weekend, hundreds of attendees expressed deep gratitude for Intact Global’s presence and legal advocacy. Many said they were relieved to finally see this issue addressed and inspired that someone is taking it to court.
Volunteers distributed educational materials, answered questions, and forged new connections with community members. The strong turnout and engagement reflect a clear cultural shift toward supporting bodily autonomy and demanding legal reform.
Acknowledgements and Thanks
Executive Director Eric Clopper offered heartfelt thanks to volunteers John, Carrie, Allie, Che, and Justin for their tireless work throughout the event. He also recognized GALDEF (Genital Autonomy Legal Defense and Education Fund) and Tim Hammond for sharing booth space and collaborating to amplify the impact of this historic weekend.
