We asked an Oregon court to protect every child equally. Now we await its ruling.

I could not be more pleased with how the hearing went. Our legal team came prepared. We presented what we believe is a compelling constitutional argument: that Oregon cannot protect one class of children—girls—from medically unnecessary genital cutting while denying that same protection to other classes of children—boys and intersex children.

The State made its argument. We made ours. Now, we await the Court's ruling, and this is a good place to be. The fact that we did not receive an immediate ruling should not be mistaken for a lack of progress. These are consequential constitutional questions, and we welcome the Court's careful consideration of the arguments and the record before it.

We left Monday's hearing encouraged, energized, and extraordinarily proud of the case we presented. But I want to be clear about something else: we are not slowing down.

While we await the Court's decision in Oregon, our work continues on multiple fronts. In Colorado, Huff v. Colorado is moving forward, and our legal team is actively preparing for the next steps in that case. At the same time, we remain focused on whatever comes next in Oregon and on the broader work necessary to advance equal protection for children.

Every stage of this effort requires preparation. It requires legal expertise, research, strategy, organization—and resources. While the Court deliberates, we do not stand still. The extraordinary momentum you have helped us build brought us to that courtroom Monday. Now is the time to protect that momentum and build upon it.
