This month brings three major developments — a landmark court hearing in Oregon, a newly filed amicus brief in California, and a historic breakthrough for children’s rights in Europe. On October 23rd at 1:30 PM PT, an Oregon court will hear the State's Motion to Dismiss in Hadachek v. Oregon—Intact Global's lawsuit challenging unequal protection of children from genital mutilation. This marks the first time a U.S. state court has been asked to consider whether boys and intersex youth deserve the same legal protection as girls from forced genital cutting. The hearing will take place at Multnomah County Courthouse and is available remotely via Webex.

Intact Global filed an amicus curiae brief in Flash Gordon v. Kaiser Hospital, joined by Doctors Opposing Circumcision, Intact America, and international legal and medical experts. The brief argues that non-therapeutic circumcision violates fundamental rights to bodily integrity, autonomy, and equal protection, opposing Kaiser's motion for summary judgment.
